AI, Digital ID and the lack of debate.
It's not about being a luddite....it's about the very nature of humanity.
The ‘Data Use and Access Bill’ – one of those titles which makes you think, ‘are the words in the wrong order?’
You have to repeat it several times. This could be deliberate, of course, in the hope that you give up on such word soup and look away.
The ‘Data Use and Access Bill’ caused the glorious Silkie Carlo of civil liberty’s campaign group and arbiter of truth, Big Brother Watch to ask, “Why is no-one talking about it??”
I like that question. I’m a moth to a flame of things we SHOULD be talking about but aren’t. In this instance I certainly didn’t need much encouragement: the threat of AI making complex decisions about your life PLUS this week’s headline about Digital ID needed to access Pubs and Clubs meant that Silkie was THE interviewee of choice.
She leapt on the chance to come on Britain’s Newsroom as we were one of the only media outlets to go near this topic.
Below, you can see the conversation PLUS my take on it after.
I hope you find it interesting.
